I was on my holiday and WordPress decided to release a new version (ha .. ha .. as if I am somebody to WordPress)

But if you don’t feel to upgrade from your current version, you don’t have to since this is not a security release. You may want to wait for another week or so for the bug fix of this new release. This is getting common with each major upgrade lately Anyway, upgrading is not that complex anymore. Since 2.7, WordPress upgrade is just a click of a button. I have upgraded azwan.my, and it only took 8 seconds.

WordPress has introduced some really cool new stuffs. One thing I find interesting is the inclusion of the built-in post thumbnails. JB Cool is using thumbnails by using custom field. While this blog is not using any.

To make use of this feature, you need to modify your theme a bit. I am using Whitebeans currently, not sure how soon Bat will upgrade the existing version to include all the latest WordPress features. Even the functions that were released in the previous WordPress version is not incorporated into this theme i.e. threaded (nested) comments.

If I could modify the theme used by JBCool without any problem, I don’t need to remember to add a custom field and also copy and paste the URL of the image every time before I hit the publish button. Something like the Get The Image plugin which I used previously. No custom field to add and no URL to copy and paste. Simple!
