If your domain is for example azwan.my, with Google Apps you could set up an email id for each of your family members ie azwan@azwan.my, lin@azwan.my etc up to 50 users for free. The free account offered by Google is more than enough. However, if you require > 50 users, then Google do offer a Premier Edition.

2 things that I like about Gmail:
Reliability – I have been using Gmail for years, and it has proven to be a reliable email service. When a friend send an email to me and cc a copy to my Gmail, sometimes I will not receive it at my office email. So far it never fails at Gmail.

Portability – I don’t have to worry losing my old emails if I decided to change my hosting company. I think those people who have moved from one hosting to another know what I mean.

Setting Up Google Apps (Gmail) For Your Domain
Step 1: Sign in
Here’s what you need to do. First, go to Google Apps and click on the Get Started button.

Then click on Administrator: I own or control this domain, key in your domain name and press the Get Started button.

Continue to fill in your particulars on the next page and click continue to the next page to create your first user.

Step 2: Verify domain ownership
The easiest way to verify is by uploading a html file to your root directory. Click on that option and create a HTLM file using Notepad as instructed on the next page and proceed to upload that file with your favorite ftp software (mine is FileZilla) to your root directory.

Step 3: Change MX records
Login to your cPanel and use the search function to search for MX Entry. Select your domain and then look at the MX records. Delete all the default entry and add new MX entries as below:

Once you save it, you can test by sending an email to the new account. See below, your own dot com email using Gmail.

Although, there’s some problem with Gmail, overall I am still satisfied with it services. Especially when it’s free. I still prefer to use GMail although I have Yahoo and Windows Live accounts. I just hope that this is temporarily.

Last month, Google announced that Gmail Offline will be available for US and UK only, now it’s available to all. To set it up, just go to settings and then labs and click on enable. You will also need Google Gears.

Today, another problem. GMail were a bit slow yesterday with the ‘retyring in 30s…’ messages keep on popping up, then today it was better, but then .. suddenly, this error message came out. Hampeh…

Google having problem after 10 years?

Well, you must have known by now, that Google has just released ‘Themes’ from their lab. A few bloggers have already blogged about it :

This post was supposed to be out on Thursday, but somehow, after Google launched ‘Themes’ for Gmail, accessing to the site has been very slow. I got timed out the whole night

Anyway, with this, you no longer have to read your mail the boring way. You can just change to whatever theme you like and you have a fresh ‘new’ email interface

While the new themes may look cool. In my opinion, it’s not save for work. With ‘Graffiti’ or ‘Ninja’ on, everyone else in the office would know that I am not working.

And that’s not good
