Azwan.my started with the Alexa Rank of 15,693,449. Although I did mentioned that my target was to be at the 500K level by second month, I failed :( Looks like my skills is getting a bit rusty lately, but on the bright side … I did beat Zaki Yamani in the Alexa challenge :)

We didn’t make the challenge public nor set a specific time frame. Anyway, mine is currenlty at 737,479 while his is 1,575,379.

Traffic source has also started to come from outside Malaysia, about 60%. Compare this with my kids, looks like their blog is getting a bigger share :)

A higher Alexa Ranking does not mean that the traffic of that site is high. Alexa rank is measured by visits from users with the Alexa Toolbars installed.

Alexa’s traffic rankings are based on the usage patterns of Alexa Toolbar users and data collected from other, diverse sources over a rolling 3 month period. A site’s ranking is based on a combined measure of reach and pageviews. Reach is determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day. Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single pageview. The site with the highest combination of users and pageviews is ranked #1. More info at Alexa FAQ

Although there are tips being given to increase Alexa page ranking, you can refer to Dosh Dosh, I didn’t use any of them. The experiment I am doing at azwan.my is solely based on SEO for organic traffic.
